BIOGRAPHY/ARTIST STATEMENT
Vivian Hordes is an award-winning Houston print artist whose prints have been exhibited at
“The New Orleans Triennial: A Southern Perspective on Prints”, a solo exhibition at The Museum of Printing History: “Meditations & Inspirations” where she was honored as the
“Undiscovered Printmaker of the Year”, Williams Tower Visual Arts Alliance juried exhibitions,
And numerous Houston public art events. Ms. Hordes’ work combines traditional and non-.
Traditional printmaking techniques to achieve three-dimensionality resulting in a rich surface
emphasizing the depth of her imagery. She is an alum of The School of the Art Institute of
Chicago, Illinois where she received her B.F.A and M.F.A. with an emphasis on Design and Filmmaking before moving back to Houston. After attending an experimental printmaking workshop, she began an engaged and passionate exploration of traditional and non-traditional printmaking techniques.
She is a founding member of PrintMattersHouston.com. Her studio is located at Winter Street Studios.
